If I were the manufacturer, the perfect car for me to build and market is the car that cease to work the day after the warranty expires.
Not a penny of extra value added that is not essential to completing its warranted life.
Planned obsolescence at it's academic finest...no doubt....but as for your life as a manufacturer , once word got around I wouldn't bet on your long term survival. ;)
