From Bosch, from each vehicle OEM, and any others...
To my knowledge, and admitted to NHTSA via VW, via Bosch, there have been at least 3 revisions to the VW pump to make it "more robust" to low quality fuel in the USA, the last change occurring in November of 2010. Bosch never changed or referenced any change in part number for these three changes... part always ended with a VW part number of 155 A. This is for the CP4.1 pump, the 1 cylinder version for their 2 liter motor.
No one knows what the revisions have been, Bosch has not released any PSA's to support the changes either...
Bosch has had to know about these failures since the writer in Popular Mechanics had a HPFP failure somewhere between Yuma and Santa Monica in 2007, when VW of Santa Monica dealership flew in overnight a whole replacement fuel system kit, and told the writer to fill up with some biodiesel from the harbor in Playa Del Ray to add to the rest of the fuel tank. VW / Bosch claimed then that it was lubricity, with Ford, they claim it's water in fuel... Bosch needs to stop pointing fingers at everything else and realize that when they point one finger at fuel conditions or water in fuel, there are 10 fingers of every owner that has had a HPFP failure and the inconvenience, pointing back at them. Man up, Bosch, grow a pair, or keep leaving snail tracks from all these HPFP failures that you can't figure out.
