If an accumulator is needed, it can be fitted in between the exit from the pump and the common rail.
A "balloon" like ball shape in the line made with a hydroforming process that should add no more than 10 or 20 euro cents to the manufacturing cost of the line with the accumulator.
Proper accumulator shaping (with a bit of simulation) can find a shape that reflects / dampens harmonics and diffuse the energy and interactions.
