There is an interplay between high injection pressure (finer spray droplets) and lower particulates, lower unburnt Hydrocarbons, and with that --- smaller DPFs, SCR / DOC needed to clean it up at the tail end.
I have a Bosch paper that discuss the tradeoff, and how they are stacking the deck in favor of pressure to lower cost in the tail end.
