I would say, based on the evidence to date, there is enough to start ordering up experiments to bash away at the theories.
There is also sufficient info to start making stop gap design changes.
Lets prioritize what we would do... If we were installed at Bosch in the morning.
Engineers do not have to understand the physics / science behind the problem --- to start to build around what engineering don't know.
For example, a major problem a few years back that was not understood was solved by installing a high level interrupt in the software to replace the old fashioned mechanical interrupt that was eliminated and replaced with a software switch.
The high level interrupt was activated by pressing on the brakes!
