If we assume the failure is at the cam:
A quick and dirty way to make the damage less severe would be to:
Tap the fuel supply for the actual HP injection piston at the main fuel inlet, using the in tank fuel pump to pressurize it.
(If that is enough pressure).
Add a filter on the cam lobe fuel return hose for metallic debris at the low pressure side.
That way, rather than supplying hot fuel from the cam / lobe area, cooled fuel from the tank is sent to the HPFP piston.
A failed pump with this arrangement would be far less costly.
Just replace pump, filter, and you are back running.
