It is time for the industry (OEMs) to discuss mandatory dyeing of biodiesel that is above the "tolerance" certification limit.
Biodiesel above B5 should be dyed a distinct color, like farm / industrial diesel so if it was misfueled --- there is a ready indication just by looking at components like the filters.
Based on what we know now --- biodiesel is simply not well characterized / determined to be as safe as regular diesel.
When ASTM is alerting readers to unknowns about their tests and metrics, it is a warning flag.
