Yes, then this leads back to H2O and/or cavitation in that poorly
lubed cam cavity and the hammering of the follower and piston
Or just the presence of H2O and/or emulsification of H2O and whatever
that is the final straw to loosen debris
Or the lost lube properties in this very poorly lubed cavity due to
any form of H2O intrusion?
A new thought is that if they had captured/fastened the piston to the
follower, this would not hammer even if the metering valve shuts to
create cavitation in the cylinder head. Then the poor lubed cam cavity
would just be poorly lubed and maybe last longer or long enough...
