As a side note and diversion, just to show the conflict of interests that dictate how certain forums that lives off advertising from gadget makers (e.g. snake oil) work...
Some years ago, I read about a certain modification to deliver more voltage from the FICM to a certain type of coil activated injectors.
Right away, I noted that this ain't going to be a good thing, because coils and dielectrics tend to be pretty closely speced.
Too much voltage (energy) and there is not much safety margin before the coils on the injectors burn out.
If there is a break in the insulation, it can easily short to ground.
Remember --- we operate our vehicles in virtual salt water baths in the winter up north.
I raised the red flag --- and warned it is likely to cause premature FICM failure, plus all the downstream parts.
No one listened... everyone of the boosters kept on flogging the "upgrade".
Meanwhile, people who got 500hp out of their engines reliably didn't find the "upgrade" necessary.
Well... fast forward a year... and reports of failure started to come in from the field...
And I no longer bother with those forums.
