I am going to assume your account of what happened is accurate.
Visit with the service manager, and have a heart to heart chat with him about what was said on here.
A) Vehicle should have been properly test driven the first time before handing back to you.
B) Parts should be on hand for the next visit --- before the appointment is scheduled.
C) It does not take overnight to repair the issue.
It is at most 1-2 hours of billable shop time, perhaps a lot less.
D) Tank should be completely refilled with DEF --- and done so under warranty because it is a warranty issue.
