In VW's the newer made in Slovakia HPFP's in the Bosch CP4.1 and 4.2 series have had much, much lower failure rates, and we suspect higher cleanliness, finish, polish and build standards than the older ones made in Germany. At least that has been the observations in the Volkswagen and Audi forums.
Get a look at the fuel pump... take photographs.
Especially the place where the serial numbers and other markings are.
Want to know if it is the latest model pump or the old one.
Do not discount my VW affiliation... I am now an owner of 2 CR VW 2012 vehicles, one the 2012 Passat 2.0L with a Bosch CP4.1 and solenoid injectors in an inline 4 cylinder with DEF injection and solenoid injectors, and a 2012 VW Touareg TDI 3.0L sport with the Bosch CP 4.2 pump running at 2/3's crank speed for a V6 fueling application and with the expensive piezo ceramic injector system. So I have skin in the game with both pumps, the latter the same as in the Ford and GMC trucks, the CP 4.2.
Despite the badge on your truck or Tow Vehicle,in your case Ford, in my case, VW, the Bosch Fuel system failing and grenading the whole fuel system is the common denominator here.
