Heading to florida in two weeks from Long Island, NY. Can I grab 301 off RT 1 in northern Delaware, take it to Ruther Glenn Va to avoid I 95 traffic. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Might also cond...

US 301 is part of the old US route system. My grandfather used 301 and 41 to get to Florida for the winter. There was no I-95 (or I-anything for that matter).
US301 miles of 55 mph interspersed with cities, towns and shopping malls. Cross the Potomac over the Gov. Nice bridge and hook up with I-95 at Fredricksburg VA. It's a relaxing ride, slower than I-95 but it avoids all of the worse areas.
