4-Corners

I've read different opinions about going to Four Corners. We're going to be heading to Monument Valley from Santa Fe this Spring and I'm thinking about whether to make it an in-route stop. Just wondering what those of you who have been there think? Thanks in advance.

  • Not much to do there. When we lived in Colorado we like visiting Mesa Verde, so we went down to 4 corners a couple of times.

To burst your bubble, the private marking is not really 4 corners. It is somewhere else. I guess the surveys in the 1800's were not as accurate as today.

  • Last time we were there it was a cyclone fenced in spot in the middle of nowhere. Other than the marker showing the spot, for photos. It has nothing to offer. I think I heard that the Navajos are charging admission now but I don't know if that's true. If you have kids it maybe worth your time. On a scale of 10 I'd give it a 3 at best. Something like the giant ball of string roadside attraction.
  • In spite of it being privately owned and hence an admission fee is charged, it's worth it to stop.

Years back we stopped, but were late and they had closed the gate. We instead had a tailgate picnic there, took some pics, and left.
