A Bad Day or Two on I-80 Wyoming

My step -son was at the Crescent Junction wreck a few minutes after....thankfully he wasn’t involved! I - 80, has been closed 55 times and counting since October! A terrible tragedy for those injured/killed! If there is a bright side, it’s this type of weather/road conditions that help prevent too many folks moving here. It’s too crowded now! Latest word.......sections of I - 80 will remain closed into tomorrow! memtb

  • That can be one nasty stretch of I80. We lost our first 5er to a blowover just west of Elk Mtn, MM 252, in May 2009. Huge sustained gust came down the valley & BOOM, got us broadside.

So many crashes are avoidable if only people would slow down in poor visibility or icy roads. I'd rather be delayed an hour by slowing down than risk not getting there at all by barreling along like roads are flat, dry & unlimited visibility with just me on the road.

Wishing for the best for the survivors.
I used to drive this road a lot. It is winter for 8 months of the year. We called it the Sno Chi Min Trail. It is bad and it is dangerous. Avoid it in bad weather at all costs.
