Do you have the 4k or the 8k unit?
We have the 8000 but only because they had one in stock the day I wanted to buy it and I was anxious and did not want to wait for the 4000 to arrive. All you really need in Mexico is the 4000 as it will cover pretty much all your needs for the power available in Mexico. I forget the math formulas for figuring it out but if I recall a 30amp is for up to 3600 - so less than 4000. If you were going to worry about using it in the states or for a 50amp system you would probably have to go to two 8000 - but so little need for it here it is not worth it. The 8000 unit was only about $50 more than the 4000 when I went to the store so I just figured for $50 I would just get what they have. But note that the 8000 is almost 15 lbs heavier than the 4000 so if you have to lug it around the 4000 is easier to handle.

Hi Pete - that works great if you happen to have a spare 30amp extension - or maybe even a dogbone or two. If you don't carry enough parts with you they can be difficult to find in Mexico. But creativity can come in handy. Where there is a will there is a way.
