Power does not come from nowhere, no voltage reguator is going to fix the problem if it cannot draw enough current.
Exactly - and at that point your surge protector should protect you.
There are far too many math formulas to try to list and explain here. I try to keep it simple and then someone brings up another part of the equation to confuse it. NO - you cannot create electricity that is not there. So my most recent formula may have been a clue. In Mexico we may have 127 volts but that gives us 31+ amps through the 4000 VA ISB - whereas in the US we get 120 volts which allows us 33.3 amps. Any part of the formula changes and other things change too. So if we do not get 120 volts and we use a regulator to correct to the volts we want/need there will be a change in amps. Then we can get into watts and all kinds of other factors that change what we see and what we get. Resistance? Size of wire (which is resistance)? Length or wire (which is also resistance). Watts of whatever appliances are running? Too much information. It just confuses the issue. So we can make choices. If you have variations in voltage that exceed (high or low) the parameters of your surge protector then you will be at least temporarily cut off from power. To attempt to correct this on/off caused by the surge protector you can get a voltage regulator that will help to keep your voltage near where your various devices (A/C in particular - but lots of other stuff too) require to operate. Or you can turn off your surge protector and hope. Or do nothing and hope. There is no sure-fire solution to electrical problems. I have tried to provide a few ideas. I hope at least of few people can understand. If you want to know more about the math their are probably a ton of formulas online and you can Google what happens with volts and amps and watts and resistance and current and all the rest (some of those are actually different words for the same thing). Do you need to know how an internal combustion engine works to know when it is time to put fuel in your tank? Can you turn water into wine? Can you get blood from a stone? Sorry - I guess maybe I am not in a good mood....
