Chris: In Old Kino they had a huge surge and about 50 Mexicans lost their TV's. Sometimes it is caused by a malfunction at the huge transformers near your location. To deny that this happens is akin to denying that the world is round not flat. The CFE has certainly improved in the last 10 years but some of the equipment is not maintained. They use aluminum neutrals on the poles and the connections fail often. This can cause huge surges. About twice a year they power wash the connections near the transformers to get rid of the salt. We live in a high wind area. Any loose connections become open.
