Alaska, I'm just saying

Alaska is beautiful and if seeing majestic mountains and vistas is your thing then you will be well pleased. The people are friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to be around. But, If you want to see animals and catch fish forget it. The bus trip in Denali is a joke. You ride for hours and may see some sickly looking
caribou and mt. goats in the distance. The scenery is beautiful, but that's it.

Fishing, There are no fish in Alaska except for all the fish in the nets of the commercial fishermen. On the Kenai, there are so few fish in the river that the bears are starving. They are stealing the stringers of those lucky enough to have caught one or two fish. Now the game warden says they will have to put them down because they are becoming to bold around humans. You will waste your time and money around Cooper Landing and the Russian and Kenai river.

I'm not saying that Alaska is not a wonderful place, what I am saying is, the Fish and Game, have screwed up the everything. If you don't believe me, get a fishing regs. and try to understand it.

Now, let the flaming begin...

Can't tell if this is a joke or serious, but if you're serious then you're also a joke!
  • Take the time to look through Our 2015 Alaska Trip photos.

You'll see photos of good scenary and WILDLIFE! I haven't gone fishing yet but have 2 charters planned for the week of July 27. Time will tell if I catch anything! We have been in Alaska since Memorial Day and will not leave until after Labor Day. We are enjoying ALL that this state has to offer!

I as a vacationer I take exception to anyone blatantly saying Alaska does not have much for wildlife and that the state has mismanaged its fisheries.

    I am just saying....
  • You are saying that the Alaska Fish and Game Department has screwed up everything?

    Miles
  • Each fishing season is different with runs as the state imposes restrictions....as when the regional areas are open for fishing during the same timeframes every year, the fish counts tend to be low at times or they have good runs.

When it comes to fishing in Alaska for migrating salmon, it is hit and miss and you have to be there at the right place at the right time for fishing and for wildlife.

Denali is the same scenario, times I seen wildlife and other times I have not - luck of the draw.

My friend just came back from the peninsula yesterday and caught many fish and reached his limit in most places and has them in the smoker as I type...it does help that his sister works for federal fish and wildlife and her husband was born and raised in Kenai as well and know where all the hot spots are at the spur of the moment.

    But it is Alaska....just sayin'.
