Albany NY to Manchester NH

Anybody drive their Class A from Albany to Manchester NH via Rt9 and 101? Heading that way in May and haven't used that route before. I know it will be a bit slow with small towns, etc. Is it a pretty drive? I'm not in a hurry. Thanks.

  • We take 9 from Troy to Manchester all the time in our 45' MH with a toad. We go all the way to 89, then 93 down to 101 where we head east to the coast.

It's a scenic easy drive. There are some pretty good grades but nothing too bad.

We've driven 101 west of Manchester in the car and it's doable in a MH but we prefer going all the way to 89.
  • Lots of folks take the "snore" route: I-90 (Mass Pike) to Worcester, I-290 to I-495, then I-93 to Manchester. I've never done this because I enjoy the back roads. Our RT or passenger car are very comfortable with RT 9 and 101, but I'm told the Interstate routing takes the same amount of time.
  • Rt 9 IMO is a steep, winding road. It does have some beautiful sights. I like Rt 4 a bit north. Then I would jump to Interstate 89 to Interstate 93.
