Alternate route around Adelanto, CA (Hwy US-395)?

In April I will be driving my pickup from the Trona Pinnacles to San Diego. The obvious route to take is US-395. But there are all those STOP signs on 395 in the Adelanto area. Anyone know of a good...

I am eagerly following this thread -- 395 straight to the 15 used to be a great route, till they added all the lights through Adelanto. I wish there were an alternative.

But I think taking 58 from Kramer Junction out to Barstow and then back down to 395 adds a lot of miles --- would it save any time at all??
