If you're in a resort or RV park in Mexico, you're most likely near a larger town like Mulege, La Paz, San Jose del Cabo, Todos Santos ...

I'm still digesting the 400% Chinese tax?
I've just checked - it's a history now, so your stomach may sleep happily. Mexico eliminated this tax 2 years ago, now it's a regular 15%. Like I said - the war is lost. So far I'm still seeing some goods in local "tiendas" made in Mexico, but it looks like this is going to change.Trackrig wrote:
If they're still the cheapest, have the best selection, and can get it to you in Mexico better than anyone else, then they could be charging a 1000% percent tax for all that it matters.Bill
Who "they" - China? With $2 per hour labor with no benefits of course they're the cheapest.
Or Amazon? For some items Ebay is cheaper, since their platform is mostly used by direct sellers from China, while on Amazon there are some direct, some from US resellers and some from Amazon (though all made in China).
1000% tax? My LED lights from Ebay cost me $1.60-2.0 each. At 1000%*2=$20 each it would make sense training a few local guys in Nowhere Tx where they have no jobs of any kind. Such a tax would be an easy way to change direction of the flood.
Btw, - somebody mentioned those direct Chinese sales on Amazon. Stay away from this, if your pick-up point is hours of driving away. Timing is unpredictable. Once it was 2 weeks for me, another time 6 weeks, so compounding several orders for one trip would be difficult. Can't say about Mx, but in the US shipping offices will charge you for holding the shipment longer than a week or two. UPS will hold it for free 5 days only.
They never warn you on Amazon when shipping is direct from China, but the warning sign is a missing Prime Shipping. - briansueExplorerWe have found Amazon has many warehouses all over the US so in many cases we can get delivery in one day. They continue to open and stock more warehouses. So I assume Amazon is going to have or has at least a few well stocked warehouses around Mexico. I am not sure how this will affect delivery in Mexico as many addresses in Mexico can be difficult to find. I think if Amazon is doing it they have it figured out.
As far as shipments from China goes - I ordered LED lights from Amazon to install in our RV to replace the standard 12VDC lights that come with RVs including halogens - the lights came from China in less than 2 weeks - they had labels saying they came by both China Post and USPS combined with postage paid to USPS - I have no idea how they do this. Wherever you buy LED lights they were probably made in China - but if you buy direct from China the LEDs cost maybe $1 or $2 each while the same lights from some US companies who import them charge over $20 per light - sounds like a good racket to get into if people are willing to pay that much for a light bulb. - tepetapanExplorerThere is a lot of bad info I think. Like I mentioned, I've been ordering from them with only having a shipping hold up once ( UPS) to Catemaco. I did sign up, or tried to, for Amazon MX today and found my account is the same here as it is in the US. A couple things I checked were flagged "Importation", meaning they will still be coming from the US for now. I doubt they will be free shipping!
From the few things I searched, what was unavailable to be sent to Mexico in the past is still unavailable. I'll give them some time to get things running before ordering. - 4X4DodgerExplorer III am confused. I was ordering from Amazon and they were delivering to CAMBODIA years ago (3-4). DHL or FED EX. So what is with Mexico? According to the countries list on Amazon Mexico has been a deliverable country for some time.
I think there is some misunderstanding here....
(Now there are some products they wont deliver to some countries but those are listed also.) - tepetapanExplorerI have been ordering from Amazon for a couple years. They deliver via DHL or UPS in Mexico. I need to compare prices with the Mexico web page but I doubt you will see a big savings. Right now Amazon Mexico is offering free shipping with any purchase over 600 pesos and has their system set up for delivery anywhere DNL serves, which is about anywhere in Mexico. It is nice, I guess, that your order comes from Mexico in just a few days where from the US it is 10 days.
- OH48LtExplorerMexico is going to be Amazon's test location for delivery by drone.
- navegatorExplorerThey probably will start in big cities, Mexico City, Puebla, Monterrey, Juadalajara, Oaxaca, etc and see how it goes before expanding to other localities.
It is a start.
navegator - qtla9111NomadBoy, we just can't give Mexico a break, can we? I just drove to the border and back over the weekend to pickup a package from Amazon. I waited for four months and let my cart fill up.
This is excellent news. There may not be delivery to Puente Chancaca por la ultima calle sin numero but in big cities is a start.
I'm very happy about the news and rvers should be too if they need something on the quick while they are traveling here. Beats a drive to the border or the endless forum posts looking for "someone coming my way" that isn't quite sure if they are going to go that way or not.
Things aren't always from one day to the next. Instant gratification isn't here yet, thank goodness. - XflyhighxExplorerLoose in up... Just good clean fun. Nothing political about it.
