Ambassador Bridge(2013)

Has anyone recently crossed to the USA using the Windsor-Detroit bridge.

We are heading to Florida(from London, ON) next week and would appreciate an update.

My R-McN GPS wants to take me over via the tunnel.
I would prefer the bridge because it had easier access to I-75S

I have a 30' 5th wheel.

Thx
  • Our last 4 crossings into Michigan were at the Ambassador Bridge without problem.
I always cross with a full fridge/freezer -tell them what I have and get waved through. Just know about the few restrictions. A call to the
Agri. Dept to see if anything has been newly added to the list is advisable. Get the person's name and take it with you and if you are questioned at least you can indicate you tried your best to obey their rules. I hate having to stop and shop - would much rather spend the time getting to our destination and shop when we get there. Usually works.
  • It's seems daytime crossings have what seems like always been a issue, and for some years now the bridge is privately owned. The extra miles were always my choice by using the 402 and Port Huron.
  • Doug,

We do that crossing several times a year and I always regret the hassle and time. We are usually inbound from the Erie shore, but coming from London (we have), I now always cross at the Blue Water. It is much friendlier. Also, don't provision with any perishables until you cross. It is about impossible to find out what is on their bad list on any given day and it seems to change fast and by officer.

  • I would cross over at Port Huron and then no problems at all.

  • We all answered you when you posted the same question in the Snowbirds forum...
