Any steep grades from Reno, NV to Brookings, OR?

We have not travelled the 199, but did take the 299 last spring. I would not recommend it. It is up and down and long and winding. There are some narrow sharp corners,and rocks on the road. It was interesting but I will never do it again.

299 has a massive construction project going on to straighten some of the curves. They are working at evening and night, but call for 45 minutes delays possible.

We live about 62 miles east of Reno in Fallon so subtract 60 miles from my info. Good route always stay over night in Yreka at Waiiaka Trailer Haven at the Fairgrounds exit. D1ck

Fallon to Hat Creek 201
Hat Creek to Yreka 109
Yreka to CA/OR Line 24
OR Line to Medford 24 Medford to Grants Pass 28
Route 50 & alt 50 W, 80 W, 395 N, 36 W, 44N, 89 N & I-5 N.
GP to Crescent City Hwy 199 473
Crescent City to Brookings Hwy 101 499

Thank you! We'll be there in the last couple of weeks of Sept. Will still be in the forest fire season and who knows a month from now, but for the record what is the drive on 199 like?

This the best way......take the cut off just past Jedidiah Smith State Park on 199 and save a few miles to Brookings. Only big grade will be the Siskiyou Summit in Oregon and it is not bad at all!

Forget the Hwy 20 recommendation. Going to close due to wildfire near Clear Lake.
