First, on any manual awning I would install the straps. Just good protection.I-40 is fine. Take I-40 to I-15 then south to 91. 91 west to your destination. Any time you drive in the desert you can have winds. There ain't no trees. Just check wx reports. I drove from LA to the river on I-40 almost every weekend for 40 years. The wind is only bad a few times. Like this time of year. Mar & Apr Maybe Nov.
