Having cris-crossed this country several times, I think that I-70 between Denver and Cove Fort, UT is one of the most scenic stretches of Interstate. However if you have enjoyed that scenery as much as you want there isn't anything wrong with your proposed route through Albuq. except for the additional miles. The plus is that as a previous poster has said, there are many sights to take in along the I-40 route. All interstate highways in this country are aging and in various stages of repair or disrepair with construction zones everywhere. You will find grades and curves along I-40 but nothing like I-70 west of Denver.
