Anzalduas Bridge Crossing with A 40 ft DP

Anzalduas Bridge Crossing with A 40 ft Monaco Dynasty DP and 20 foot toad trailer loaded with a Chevrolet 2500 HD Crew Cab.

I finally graduated from my previous 39 ft TT and will now pick up my DP in the middle of January. The TT taught me a lot of lessons, some a bit painful! (smiling) None the less I am moving forward and I am sure that I'm about to enter a whole new level of education which I might add is a bit intimidating. I have always used the Anzalduas Bridge crossing and have never had any problems headed south via 40 East and west and then onto 57 south. I am a bit unsure about the process one goes through with a motor coach and a toad so a few questions are in order.

I have never taken my TT through Anzalduas as I used other crossings then returned to McAllen where I stayed at an RV park for the duration, with several stateside trips in between learning more and more about RV'ing..

Can a single person bring both an motor coach and a toad across on the TIP's or is only one TP allowed for a driver? What is the cost of a ten year TIP for the Monaco? My wife does not drive the larger crew cab and she certainly will not drive the Coach.

Second, roughly how long does it take to cross into Mexico with all the X Ray etc that one apparently has to go through at the POE at the Anzalduas crossing.

I see that one seems to pull off to the right for the RV inspection and then a whole lot of bells and whistles seem to go off. What's up with that?

Are the Cuota's using the number of axles (this Monaco has a tag axel)or are they counting wheels on the ground to figure your cost for using the particular portion of the numerous Cuota's involved heading south to Querétaro?

Does anyone know for sure if Pemex diesel now has low sulpher in their tanks or not? I understand in Baja they apparently do have.

Thanks in advance for any information regarding my questions are answered.

  • Unless you are traveling to one spot for the entire winter you will have problems. It is hard enough to find CG;s that will hold your Dynasty. But where would you park the trailer?

Agreed. We flat tow our toad. To much of a pain to deal with a trailer anywhere but especially in Mexico. Load and unload. Parking it. Storing it. If you stay in one place for long periods it may not be too bad. But if you move around much as we do the trailer is nothing but a nuisance. Maybe find a toad someone is selling which is already equipped with tow hitch parts - and is qualified to tow four down. They can be found online. An old one is probably better in Mexico anyway.
  • Mr. navegator: Can't he get both permits in his name. One 6 month and one 10 year???

  • I would not want to travel Mexico with a large DP and a truck inside a trailer. Unless you are traveling to one spot for the entire winter you will have problems. It is hard enough to find CG;s that will hold your Dynasty. But where would you park the trailer? One big PIA. I don't know the year of your truck but if it is a 4x4 you should be able to flat tow. If you have to leave your trailer outside the CG it will be gone in the morning!

  • Mr: moisheh I think you are right, pickup truck and trailer one person and the motorhome in wife's name either way both will have to get permits for the vehicles and trailer.

  • Sorry guys but I think the trailer goes on the truck permit. BUT You might have to physically hook up the trailer to the truck. It is not unusual to see Gringo utility trailers behind PU's.

  • Motor home 10 year permit, pickup truck 180 days, trailer no go, you need a second person for the trailer or the pickup.

One person one motorhome and one vehicle OK

A third vehicle or trailer needs a second person

Put the motorhome and the pickup in your name and the trailer in the wife's name, I see that you have crossed at Anzalduas, getting to the Banjersito module is a trip in itself, we ended paying for the toll back to the US since the outlet for the exit was blocked by the military.

  • I probably do not have answers specifically but a few comments. If you have the pickup in a trailer you have 3 vehicles I think - you are only allowed two - in one name - maybe another name OK for the third but I do not know. My wife drives our 40'with a toad on cuotas and big roads - also on Interstates in the US - but not comfortable with tight spaces - it can be done. There is a website where you can find the tolls . . .

    http://app.sct.gob.mx/sibuac_internet/ControllerUI?action=cmdEscogeRuta&eligeIdioma=si . . .

by that reckoning you have a 3 axle bus - with a trailer - or towed automobile - not sure. We tow a car and are charged as a bus with a car behind - two tolls with two tickets. I would not count on seeing any ULSD anywhere in Mexico in the foreseeable future - some say it can be found in Baja and some other areas but others say no. It can be found but I would not count on it.
