We just left Alaska. We meant to make the trip to there and to Deadhorse and Proudhon but lost so much time with breakdowns in Alberta that we had to skip it. Maybe next time. Looks like you’re having a great trip. Enjoy!’ Ours was lots of fun. We especially enjoyed the area south of
Anchorage.
We just finished our Alaska trip last month. We opted to fly from Fairbanks to Coldfoot, then were bussed to the small (11 residents) town of Wiseman, about 63 miles north of the Arctic Circle. We would have liked to have driven it but with our 95 yr old MIL along, the possibility of being stranded or broken down in a very remote area scared us too much. So DW and I flew. Wonderful trip
Someday we do plan to drive the Dempster all the way to the Arctic Ocean now that a new hwy has just been opened in Northern YK and NWT. I agree the Kenai penusula was spectacular. We thought the drive from Tok to Fairbanks was OK but not too special, as was the drive from Fairbanks to Denali. The drive from Denali to Anchorage was very pretty, and the first 60 miles out of Palmer towards Tok as spectacular, after that not so much. Hold on to your teeth, that road is very bad after the first 60 miles from Palmer.
One last suggestion: the drive from Whitehorse to Skagway is very unique and beautiful.
