I can give you my DW's answer to bilingual, she always asks if "Sprechen sie Deutsch?" Why only Spanish or French? Sometimes she gets lucky. For Spanish I use the old man's way. I speak English, the other guy speaks Spanish. It works, us old guys know its easier to understand a new language rather than slaughter it while speaking.

Oh wait. One more complaint. They turned the heat up to make it less appealing to the Yanks. Since when does Canada have the exact same temperature, humidity and precipitation as Florida in the summer?? ha ha ha.

We were in Canada two months ago, right at the beginning of the tiff. In general we had no problems but did hear a few remarks here and there.

Had a laugh yesterday, attended a BBQ where the host had bought French's ketchup (made with Canadian tomatoes) to replace the Heinz ketchup, Heinz had shut down the Ontario facility that made it and now produces it in the USA.

She asked if someone could take it home because it was so runny compared to Heinz and she was going to pour it down the sink!

So much for boycotting US products!

Newfoundlanders are an incredibly friendly bunch, and it’s one of the most scenic places in North America, with vast open spaces and countless miles of dramatic coastal scenery. This summer, we camped on a beach at Fogo Island, and on a bluff overlooking the sea in La Scie, both with electric hookups for a small fraction of the cost you’d pay if you could find such campgrounds in the US.

It’s surprising how few U.S. plates we’ve seen this summer up here. I guess the high cost of the ferry scares people off.

Probably the best way to answer this would be to show you the top item on our local news tonight. It's a long weekend and last night or this morning, there was a four hour line up at the border to get into the US.
That would seem to indicate that we really are not mad at you at all!
