Would like to know about Rts 412,62,and 65 in Arkansas. How are they for pulling a fifth wheel? Thanks for any info, Dave

I've taken US-412 from Springdale to Jackson, TN. I would have no problem with pulling a fiver or driving a motorhome on this route. Where it is hilly and curvy, it is not really steep or tight, lanes are wide and shoulders usually good. It gets slow going through towns. Most don't look very big on the map, but many are busy resort towns, in season.

US-412 at Jackson, TN intersects with I-40 (mile marker 80 or so). Also US-45 comes thru Jackson and is mostly 4 lane south to Tupelo, Ms and points south to Mobile. Other options would be leaving US-45 at Selmer, TN on US-64 (east to Chattanooga), or at Corinth for US-72 (east to Huntsville, Al), and US-78 at Tupelo, MS (east to Birmingham).

412 is a great road, however, use the Cherokee Turnpike, it's not expensive and otherwise it's a curvy, kinda narrow, 2 lane like Hwy 62. We've pulled our 36' 5'r on Hwy 62 several times to Branson, it's fine, just watch out for the chicken trucks! (semi's taking the chickens & turkeys to market, they whiz through those roads)

The Cherokee Turnpike is in Oklahoma only.

  • US 62 is definitely a curvy road. You can check to see if the taillights on your 5th wheel are working as you round some of the corners. ;) But the route is used by many RV's every year.
  • Hwy 412 and 65 should be mostly good for you. There will be hilly and curvey areas. Road width and surface is generally good. Hwy 62 can be narrow with very tight curves in some areas. Hwy 62 is a favorite ride of motorcyclist in the Northwest part of the state. Having said that, RV's of all type have no problems traveling through the state. Enjoy the scenery.
  • Between Gateway, AR & Eureka Springs the road is crooked, some hair pin curves & steep for most of the way. Other than that one small section all three you listed would just be a normal curvy AR roads.
