Route 62 across Arkansas

Next summer I am planing a cross country trip. I have a 30' TT and a GMC 2500. I am interested in hearing from travelers that have crossed uppper Arkansas on Rte 62. I generally avoid highways but do my research ahead of time for smaller routes.
  • Atually, once you get west of Berryville, it will start getting curvey and hilly all the way to Gateway. If traveling west, I would take 412 at Harrison and continue on to Siloam Springs. Depending on when you are traveling, Eureka Springs has become a motorcycle hot spot, it can be very trying with all of the stop and go, darting in and out of parking lots, and the snail's pace that can be experienced traveling through.
  • I have done 62 west of ES with a 35 foot MH and had no trouble. Just watch your speed.
  • I used that highway for a motorcycle trip and I vaguely remember the 15 mile wonderfully curvy (for a motorcycle) stretch. But thinking back (been a while) with a different perspective (now an RV'r) I might be hesitant to take a 30 ft trailer through there due to the tight turns.

RoyF could probably offer more detail about those curves and a TT than me since he lives in those parts.
  • There is a 15-mile section west of Eureka Springs, AR, that has several sharp turns (20 mph). The rest of the highway is good traveling, some of it with four lanes. It's a senic road, not a high-speed artery. Just watch the speed posted for each curve.
