In the winter time, take 10 to victorville to hwy. 58 to Bakersfield. Check the Tehachapi mountains for road conditions, watch for snow conditions, they keep it plowed and open most of the time and usually only have it closed overnight. From Bakersfield go north on hwy. 99 to Hwy 46 then west to I-5. If there are snow conditions at the Oregon Border area, Siskyous mts. then go east on Hwy. 20 over to hwy 101 then north. Don/t take 1-10 to I-5 so you don't have to go over the Grape Vine.
Summer/spring time, go straight up I-5.
