Can go two ways, 5 south, 91 east, then 15 south or 58 east, 395 south then 15 south. Which route is less congested? Which has the road in better condition? We are driving on a sunday morning. We are towing a 36' fiver. Thanks

I know two years ago I-5 was in poor shape but may be fixed by now. I concur with the others that 58 east then 395 south is the best route. There is less elevation to climb although you run into quite a few stop lights the last 10 miles or so just before you hit I-15. On Sunday morning it should not be a problem. Safe travels, David

58...395....15 !!!!!! The other way you have the LA traffic and 5,000,000 people on the 91 all going east bound with you.

If the wind over the Grapevine is bad then the wind over Tehachapi is probably going to be worse.

I live in Santa Clarita at the southern side of the Grapevine, and I can tell you 1st hand that winds that hinder RV's and trucks movement is very rare. Taking the 58 through the desert can be equally as dangerous depending on wind patterns, but there is way more wind across the 58 as demonstrated by the wind farm that operates most of the year in Tehachapi.

When the Santa Ana's are out there is no way I would run 210 out to the 15. That's a rig flip just waiting to happen out there.

Whenever I drive to San Diego I even take 58 over and come down that way to completely bypass Los Angeles. You never know what traffic is going to be like in LA. I've been stuck in a traffic jam for hours on a Sunday afternoon there. I avoid it whenever possible.

Just be aware that the 15 south of the 91, 80MPH seems to be the norm.

On a Sunday this is an excellent choice
