- Rocky2ExplorerIf it were me, I would avoid CA 17 through the Santa Cruz hills. Instead, I would take Hwy 1 down to Monterey and then to 101 south CA 68. The road will be better and the air temp will be cooler.
- Gonzo42ExplorerMost direct route would probably be Hwy 101, would be boring.
PCH (Hwy 1) is very scenic but slower as it has curves aplenty and dips and swoops all the way. I recommend it.
You could visit Hearst Castle and check out the beaches with the elephant seals. Cambria is a very nice town. Carmel is picturesque and expensive.
From about Cambria take Hwy 46 to Paso. You will go through the west Paso winery area. Lotsa good wines grown there. - daved525ExplorerThanks, guys. 2 good options---depending on how adventurous I feel. I'm assuming there will be almost no pullouts on Hwy 1 for a MH towing, all the way down...
Dave - Gonzo42ExplorerI have seen several MH parked on wide spots next to the road, even one overnighting. Most of these just north of Cambria. I haven't been up to Carmel in decades.
