Best route from Delaware to Maine

Good morning all. I am new to RV'ing. Our last 6 trips have been in a 3 hour radius. I am seeking the most relaxing route from Delaware to Maine. Typically when we travel by car, we go up the garden state to 287/684/84, I would prefer something a little less white knuckled! Any advice? Thank you!

Agree with the above. I travel the NJ turnpike often and it's not my idea of a relaxing drive. If you have the time take gbopp's route. The only caveat to that route, however, is bridge construction on I-84 just west Milford, PA. It was restricted to one lane only eastbound in July of last year; not sure what the status is at the moment.
  • Thank you all for the advice! I appreciate it.

Or, check the map and look at routes between I-81 and I-95.

Except for the Boston area (which I avoid) I don't find the traffic to be too bad. Hartford Connecticut is a little annoying but, I usually hit it at rush hour.

We take 81 north to 84 east when we go to Bangor ME. That may be too far west for you.
  • There are multiple routes to choose and some depend on time of day and what day of week, I know that does mot help much, sorry. You could go up the New Jersey turnpike to Rt.287 then take the Thruway, Rt 87 to the Mass Pike, Rt 90 then take that over to 95 north. Probably longer and more expensive in tolls but might not be as bad of a drive. If you have EZ Pass it might speed things up some for you it did us once you coould see the EZ Pass only lanes and get to them. Have a safe trip.
  • Hi. It's against forum rules to post the same question in multiple forums. I'd suggest you close the one in Beginning RVing in deference to this once where you will probably get better/more answers.
