TX DOT web site shows south bound I-35W as open with no construction delays from 287 junction to I-20 until 4 Dec.
However, 81/287 south of Decatur is shown to have lane closures and delays. Plus starting on 4 Dec 15 there will be construction on I-35W affecting south bound lanes for one day and again on 8 Dec for one day.
So....
It's jacked up ALL the time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will remain that way until they fully complete the construction. I drive this area on a daily basis.
I stand by my original statement based on my 1st hand knowledge of the situation and the fact that I live less than 5 miles from this construction zone. - Bernalillo_GirlExplorerThanks for all the great tips. I should have initially posted a little more detail, but will do better next time! As a result of some icy roads in eastern New Mexico, we decided to leave home (just north of Albuquerque) then head south on I-25 to El Paso, then scoot east to Florida on I-10. It's about 150 miles longer than the "short-cut" we usually take through Dallas, but this way we avoid the icy roads, potentially colder weather, and traffic around Dallas during our first time east with the new trailer.
- padredwNomadTo avoid all these possible problems best heed this advice:
287 from Amarillo to 82 At Henrietta 82 to 69 just East of Sherman and 69 to I 20

Yep on that! I was through there in late August in the Ford truck. Didn't know about the construction. I was just following the GPS. I
Got lucky since it was about 7 am on a Sunday. Would have hated to hit it at rush in the MH. - patperry2766Explorer IItry to avoid I-35 in Ft Worth if at all possible. They are doing a major road construction project and even the locals try to steer clear.

This is it, exactly, if you plan to continue east on I-20. We use the route all the time, except that we continue on the Paris on US 82 instead of turning south on US 69, but that is because of where we live here in East Texas.
Excellent advice from Tyrone and Gladys. - TyroneandGladysExplorer287 from Amarillo to 82 At Henrietta 82 to 69 just East of Sherman and 69 to I 20
- RoyBExplorer III was going to say turn right at Wichita falls and go north haha...
I guess sooner or later you have to deal with the big cities... Dallas is probably alot like Atlanta as the lanes keep closing on you without much warning and you have to move over one... I hate those the worse...
I always take my time and don't worry abit about the cars behind me honking horns... My setup is much bigger than theirs...
