Best route to Disney World's Fort Wilderness

We are headed for Disney World's Fort Wilderness in April and will
be coming from the west on I-10.
What would be the best route to take right up to the check-in lane
at Fort Wilderness?
We are driving a 42ft motor coach, and towing.
I figure on using I-75 south from I-10 but from then on I'm not
sure what would be the best way to enter Fort Wilderness - come in
from the west or go around and come in from the east?
Thank you considerably for any suggestions or tips!
  • BTW, I had a nagging feeling I missed something... From Western Way to World Drive there is one more turn in between. You turn left from Western Way to Buena Vista Dr at the Coronado Resort, and go up abt. 1/4 mile to get to World Dr, where you will turn left again.

I would recommend I75 to Florida Turnpike to 429. Get off 429 at Western Way (have camera ready for typical Disney gate photo as you merge onto Western Way) and take Western Way to World Drive, turn left onto World Drive just as you come over the bridge, go just inside the Magic Kingdom gates (bearing to the right most lane), go up the street on the right (follow the busses not the car traffic thru the gates) and take an immediate right, Fort Wilderness will come up on your left. All the main roads in Disney are RV friendly and many are like freeways with on ramps, off ramps, turning lanes etc.

Note as you get off the FTP and are going up the on ramp to the 429 look left as you get to the peak, for the next 1/4 mile you will be able to see the larger landmarks at Disney in the distance.

BTW taking FTP to I4 on the east side is very busy, you will get Orlando and Downtown Disney traffic jams. It is worth the toll to go around the west side of the park.

I live here and this is the way. The only thing to add is that on 429, you will see a sign for "Disney World, Hartzog Road. That is the exit. As stated above, the road into Disney is Western Way. The other direction is Hartzog road.
