for those who do not want to sign up to the Tomzap forum the main thread is as follows:
. telcoman has is right ... just don't forget that visitors visa at the border... right at the iron gates as you enter Mexico, or you'll be driving back over 100km to get one.... it's not 1 stop shopping like at Nogales.
Never had any problem at this border myself, everyone was super helpful... the vehicle import station is usually not busy, but REMEMBER to make 3 copies of everything before leaving Sonyota ... your DL, Visa, vehicle registration, passport first page.. except for the visa, which the guys in the visa office might do for you as you leave... offering 20 pesos for the service might do the trick.. you can do the rest of the copying NOB... they were kind enough to do the copying for me at Caborca but he did remind me for next time... there was no public copy machine (at least when I was there, there wasn't ) at the vehicle TIP/Import station...and the station is way the hell out in the boonies... it's 6-8km back to Caborca
I will remind once again... the speed limit from the border station down the hill into town Sonoyta, about 2km is stupid slow, I think something like 30kmph...grit your teeth and keep to the speed limit because invariably a cop will be watching.. and if a cop passes you giving you a dirty look as he goes by, as happened to me... remember... he can and you can't.
