The wife and I have toured Mexico 3 times on a motorcycle. We had visited in an RV 9 times and I always wanted to ride a motorcycle there.
Ours is a 1000cc and I enjoy the scenic mountain roads and lax speed enforcement.
The biggest negatives are topes, tailgaters, and aggressive vehicle drivers. You've got to watch carefully before pulling out to pass. Even though I'm a fast rider in the US there's always someone faster passing or waiting to pass.
You'd be on a small bike - which there are a lot of in Mexico and probably relegated to the right side of the road where most Nationals ride their motor scooters and small motorcycles.
As is always the case Nationals are friendly and welcoming.
