We are starting to plan this year week long trip with our 11 year old Gdaughter. We have done a lot of camping in south eartern ON. This year we are looking at the Bruce Peninsula area. We need a pool or beach area, plus an area to fish. Her idea of fishing is off the dock for pumpkin seed or small bass. We looked at the Ontario camping site, here are 3 possible places. First you will have an 11 hour drive to get there. Not including construction, slow traffic and rest stops. We went to Cape Crocker when the kids were little and they really did not like it. Boredom was the word. They are and were very outdoor kids and enjoyed camping every weekend. We find that the northern part of Bruuce County and the peninsula is not child friendly unless you intend to stay exclusively in your campground. I hope someone has a more positive review for you. The Bruce has many places to fish, don't forget you will need a license. If the trip is for your granddaughter then I would stay somewhere in the area of sauble beach. It is a little lower down than you wanted. The water is warmer there. The water on the peninsula can be very cold. Wherever you go have fun with your granddaughter.

I didn't realize you knew how far it was. Some people don't remember to think of construction etc. What type of things does your granddaughter like to do? We have 5 under the age of 11 so it is hard to accomodate everyone, LOL I have heard good reviews from friends about Carsons Camp.

She is 11 (going on 21) . She does alot of craft stuff with my wife, but the fishing is with Grampy. We have taken her camping every year since she was 4. I tried to get her to let her 4 year old cousin to come this year but that was a no go. As her mother said, only child symptom, does want to share her time with the others when she is with us. Each year we do a different campground. Some have been fun others not so.

Lots to do on the penninsula in the summer, glass bottom boat tours, CheCheman ferry runs from the tub (Tobermory) to Manitoulin island. You can take your vehicle over and see the island. Tobermory is a great tourist spot with lots to see and do.There is a great park nearby called Cyprus lake. It is run by the federal government. You can take the trail from the campground to the grotto, a natural hole in the stone shoreline famous with divers.Red Bay, Pike Bay, Wiarton, Lions Head all great places to visit on the shoreline just a short drive to all.Have a great time!
