bypassing Atlanta

US Hwy 441 on the east side (take bypass to the west side of Athens). You can pick it up pretty much anywhere in GA. Try looking at an actual Map instead of following the rest of the sheep. Interstates are made for speed and convenience for travelers. RVers drag a self contained fully equipped hotel room with them. They do not need restsraunts and hotels.

There is also another US Hwy on the west side (goes thru Rome, Ga can't remember the name). I prefer to avoid interstates as much as possible. I have found that the US Highways tend to be just as fast (at my normal lower traveling speeds) and far more relaxing. I use The Next Exit to see what is at the interstate intersections that I pass over and the ones near to where I am passing.

I prefer straight through between 1 and 3 AM.

Driven to Fl from MI in the car and MH several times. Never had a problem going straight through, not at rush hour of course. I would rather drive through Atlanta than Cinci Ohio. I hate driving through Cinci.

I lived in the Atlanta area for 13 years and I vote for straight through. Get in the second lane from the left side of I75 as you get close to the outer fringes of Atlanta and just stay there. The right lanes are always becoming exit only lanes if you aren't careful. As was said earlier, avoid the worst rush times of early morning and mid-afternoon. As you get close to the junction of I75 and I85 there will be two exits to the left, but you will be fine in the lane you are in. After joining up with I85 you should move over to that second land from the left as soon as you can and just stay there until you are well south of town.

I285 around Atlanta in either direction is much longer and the traffic is as bad or worse than going straight through. Trucks as prohibited inside the I285 perimeter unless they have paperwork showing they are loading or unloading inside, so you will see most all truck traffic on I285.

Avoid rush hour and go straight through. Usually not a problem. Any route around atlanta will add miles and extra time to your trip.

We prefer to avoid as if there are zombies in the area! We took the long way around as it has been years, can't remember the exact route. However, the 1.5+ hour and the extra mileage was wonderful for us:) Atlanta drivers are not the most courteous, and also are not the best drivers in general. Good Luck!

Use the HOA lane

Straight through, if possible avoid weekday rush hours:

Mon-Thurs (6:30am-10am) (4:00pm-7pm)

Friday (6:30am-8:30pm) yes pretty much all day on Fridays!
