Camp ground full sign

Went to Wheatley PP for this long weekend....... the full park signs were posted when arriving to check in. The problem was, there were many empty sites! This just cheeses me off. If u book a site, than go, if not , cancel. This is becoming ridiculous!

  • I see that situation in many C.O.E. campgrounds in the lower 48 states. Only difference being RVs set up on the sites are unoccupied until the weekends. And when the 14 day limit is up, they never move, just register the RV site under the other spouses senior pass or a friends. Something's got to change. :M

"Me first" attitude? Kind of selfish don't you think? What would you say if YOU were the one turned away?
  • We ran into a similar situation a couple of years ago and my speculation is folks reserve on line and then don't come. This might be a no penalty for canceling situation, only thing I could think of.

  • While arrival times & Class A/B/C's could be the problem, I spent 4 days at Teklanika Campground in Denali this July. It was "full", i.e. no sites available, but each of the two loops had many empty sites that were never filled over the 4 days. At $8.00 per night (senior pass $) I suspect there are many reservations that are never occupied...
  • Is there an English translation?

How do you know the empties weren't occupied by Class A/B/C that were elsewhere?
