Plan at least 2 days at the Soo. Several nice campgrounds. The closer, you can walk to the locks and downtown. Get to the visitor center at the locks and look at the schedule (tentative) of ship passage then plan the day. The Valley Camp and River of History are worthwhile, the tower is a yawn.
If you can take the TV out to museum at Whitefish Point that will be a good most of a day. 75 miles from Saulte St. Marie. I can't go there for very long. (Memories of lost friends on Fitz.) My wife loved it.
