I was in San Francisco a few years ago and visitors were excited about the new electric buses. Vancouver BC has had electric buses for 70 plus years (first they were street/trolley cars.
Even though we buy our electricity from BC Hydro, I have never referred to an RV site with power as a Hydro site. Either power or electric.
I know I get a funny look if I ask for Homo milk in my Latte at Starbucks south of the border.
We are patriotic in our families. But we do not fly a flag, wear a flag etc.
How do we show our patriotism? By running (and being elected) in Municipal, Provincial and Federal Elections. By voting and encouraging others to vote. By volunteering and encouraging volunteering in our kids and other family members. By giving back to our local, provincial and national community. By donating land to parks, and health care centres. By donating books to libraries. By working in emergency services (police, fire and ambulance) and the armed forces.
Our patriotism is in our actions.
I bring a supply of vinegar packets with me when we travel to the US, but otherwise I enjoy trying local food and drink.
