A waiter in Key Largo one time asked where we were from. I said Prince George British Columbia, nothing. I then said about the center of BC, still nothing. So then to give him a better idea I said near Alaska and he said, why.
Now there is a huge difference between the cultures. The average Canadian's knowledge of world geography is usually far better than his southern neighbour counterpart who usually has little knowledge of what is where outside of the US.
Had to smile while watching 'world' news on the local news station. Every story was a US story. Not a one about anywhere outside the US.
