Being an American citizen with Mexican permanent resident status with a Mexican registered vehicle makes your situation unique, so I cannot see anyone here having an in depth knowledge of the situation.
I cannot see you having problems, however, in the US or Canada as neither of those countries has the kind of importation requirements that Mexico has. I can see you having to have some proof of insurance in English, although this is not asked for in a police stop in BC, (maybe because it is part of the vehicle's registration).
We occasionally see Mexican plated vehicles up here on Vancouver Island, the drivers always smile when I wave at them, so they must be having a good time!
