Canadian Winter Roads..Semi crash (almost)

Will post a link to a video below.
This from the dash cam in a semi that almost got into a head on crash.
As amazing as the video is,
(and many won't believe this) is that this video is recorded on the TRANS CANADA HIGHWAY!! :h
Folks, this is the #1 highway across Canada and if you check maps and find #11 north of Lake Superior between Nipigon and Thunder Bay you will see there is "NO" other road to get from east to west or back.
2 semis (almost) head on

I am sitting in Florida as I post this and am sure glad to be away from the North West Ontario winter. :W
  • Technically, it's not a hit and run because the other vehicle was not hit and, thus, no damage. Although the cause of the accident, he was not involved in it - it's a one vehicle accident. Should he have stopped? Absolutely. Was he obligated to by law? Unfortunately, no - not here in Ontario anyway. If there was contact in any way between the vehicles, then the answer would be yes.
  • If you read on you learn that the guy who was in the passing lane and caused this near head-on kept going. Didn't even stop. It is obvious that the truck that stopped was hitting the guard rails and obviously sustaining damage. Hit and run.

I hope the RCMP can figure out who that guy was and throw the book at him.
  • the same thing could easily happen on perfectly dry roads at any time of year (but it would probably be a tractor instead of plow). Hope the guy in the camera truck had a change of shorts handy.
  • WOW! I wonder if the snow plow was braking and that's why the other guy couldn't get back into his lane fast enough.
