Outstanding TIP shows on old passport. Nothing on new passport. One more thing off my list of things I wasn't really concerned about. Thank you.

We tried and tried with DF. Did everything we were supposed to. Had it sent back for one last item, provided it, sent it back priority mail, it was signed for, and nothing. It's gone forever. Fortunately, we both have our names on the registration, AND we both have new passports, so it wasn't an issue for the new moho.

Just to be sure we are totally clear, I hope you are meaning it can`t be done at the border. That is absolutely correct. BUT, you can get it cancelled by applying through the folks in Mexico City. That`s the long and frustrating method I previously mentioned.

It's true. There is absolutely no way you will be able to return the 10 year permit for the coach you sold. Period.
Now, your choices: Either put the new vehicle in another name that's on the registration, or if you have a new passport since your last 10 year permit was issued, you can use your new passport and have it in your name.

You show you know one of the first rules to traveling in Mexico (or just about anywhere else), "always have a plan B" (and maybe even a plan C). :)

Just wish some of the other Mexico travelers did the same thing!

Yeh of little faith :) Hey it's worth a shot. I can always put in my wife's name. They will or they won't; no skin of my arrs either way. But like I said it is worth a shot.

Sorry, but that's not going to happen, regardless of how much proof and paperwork you bring with you.. You are going to have to go through a very very long and painful process dealing with the folks in Mexico City to get your old TIP cancelled. And more bad news is that you cannot get another one issued in your name until the old one gets cancelled. Been there, done that and it is a long and frustrating experience.
There have been several discussions on this topic in the past, and they contain links to sites with details on how you have to do it as well as numbers to call in Mexico City. Do a search and read all the bad news.

Unless things have changed you have to turn the permit in about 15-20Km past Sonoita on the road to Caborca, I think it was in the little green shack.
