Cherry Hill to Liberty Harbor routing help needed

Hi all,

We're in the final stages of planning our trip east and would like some advice on the best way to get from Cherry Hill RV Park (just outside of DC) to Liberty Harbor RV Park (Jersey City). Last time we drove to Liberty Harbor (2013) we managed to get there fine, but there was plenty of confusion and stress en route.

It seems that some of the roadways heading east toward Liberty Harbor (and NYC beyond) have curb-like lane dividers and we really didn't know how to make sure we were in a lane that allowed us to exit when necessary, as opposed to going through the Holland Tunnel!

We intentionally planned our travel on Sunday, so hopefully that will result in less confusion and traffic.

We are in a 40' Class A, towing and will be traveling with two other motorhomers as well. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    As you come down the ramp after the toll, just move to the right wherever you can until you get to Marin Blvd. All those lanes are intimidating but it can be done. Once on Marin Blvd., it's straight on into Liberty Harbor.

    Driving Directions
    From the South
    Take the Garden State Parkway to exit 129. Follow signs for I-95/NJ Turnpike North. Merge onto I-78 East via Exit 14 towards Jersey City/Columbus Drive. After paying the toll stay drive straight until you come to the first stoplight. After the first stoplight begin to merge to the farthest right lane. At the last stop light, make a right onto Marin Blvd. Follow this road until it ends; the office is on the right.

    From the North
    Take I-95 South to the New Jersey Turnpike exiting at 14 C. Stay to the right, after paying toll, follow sign for Christopher Columbus Drive. This exit ramp is from the right lane. Follow Columbus Drive (Christopher Columbus Drive) until you reach Marin Blvd. Make a right onto Marin Blvd and proceed south until you reach Liberty Harbor RV Park.
    From the West
    Take I-78 East towards Newark, NJ. Take I-78 Express lane East towards I-95/New Jersey Turnpike. I-78 Express Lane East becomes I-78. Take exit towards Jersey City/Columbus Drive. Take slight right onto Christopher Columbus Drive. Take slight right onto Marin Blvd. Destination is on the right.

    Use the NJ Turnpike. Just pay the toll. It's not excessive and makes everything a lot easier.

    Pay close attention to both your GPS and the overhead street signns as you choose your ramps.

    Pay attention to what road the GPS is telling you to take as opposed to "turn left" type stuff and use the street signs to take that road.

    Worst that can happen is you take the wrong ramp and add 40 minutes and an extra toll to your drive. Be patient and try not to get too angry if this happens.

    But follow the street signs because a a road can have 6 lanes all going to different places.

    Once on the back roads of Jersey City in the hood, just take your time. It's a pretty straightforward drive to Liberty Harbor. Large trucks and 18 wheelers can do it. You got this.
