We took a short week long trip last October (2 nights at each area). Stopped near Lexington, KY to attend horse races at Keeneland. KY Horse Park was full so we camped at another place just north of Georgetown called Whispering ?something?. From there we went southeasterly through Pikeville, KY and on into Virginia to Big Stone Gap, VA. You're in the middle of Appalachia here. The Jessie Lea Campground is excellent. They had free mountain music the Saturday we were there. It's a small campground, but well taken care of and the owner is super nice.

As previously mentioned, this area has some interesting shops. On Wednesdays they have a big auction and flea market in some small town (can't recall it just now) north of Berlin. We also camped at Scenic Hills CG in Berlin.
