Since you're travelling tomorrow 5/7/15, just keep an eye on the forecast for the Salida and Gunnison areas, both sides of Monarch Pass. As others have stated, it's not a difficult pass. Tomorrow seems to be a "break" day between storms; forecast calling for changes Friday through Sunday with a chance of SNOW even here at lower elevations on Mother's Day!
The suggestion to take CO 115 south from the Springs to Canon City is a good one, as it will keep you further south and the drive up the Arkansas River Valley is an easy drive to Salida. Just west of there you'll go over Monarch Pass, and then drop down into Gunnison, where it will continue to be down hill to the Grand Junction area.
If the forecast holds, you're less likely to run into the white stuff headed this way, but as always in Colorado, the weather is very changeable, so keep an eye on the forecasts.
